EXPO ‘Bij de Griek’ (At the Greek)

EXPO ‘Bij de Griek’ (At the Greek) is a small exhibition on nightlife in the former Greek quarter around Sint-Paulusplaats.
The focus of this first expo is on the Greek businesses and artists who immersed the neighborhood in the coveted Greek atmosphere that reigned supremely there between the 1960s and 1980s. The inhabitants of Antwerp enjoyed themselvers ‘At the Greek’, hence the title. ‘Bij de Griek’ was chiseled in neon on the world-famous sailors’ pub ‘sto Koumioti’, also known as ‘Rotterdam’, for many years.

The opening of the expo will coincide with the musical festival BOUZOUKIA of 5 & 6 October 2024 which will commemorate this period.

‘Bij de Griek’ runs from 5 October to 14 November at the cultural meeting center Stadsmagazijn, our logistical support for ‘Bouzoukia’ and valued project partner.

This center is located in the heart of the former Greek quarter.

EXPO 'Sailor waiting for a ship'

‘Bij de Griek’ (At the Greek) is a tastemaker. We still hope to realize the long-announced expo ‘Sailor waiting for a ship’ in due course!
